I voted this afternoon. It was the first time in years I have been able to do so without bringing my children. kind of nice, to be able to read word for word ammendments asn such, instead of skimming. It was nice not to have to worry about my little one trying to feed everyone's ballot into the machine. Or hording the I voted stickers...... A gal can get use to this... LOL But alas, I am not able to take part in the freebies being given out by corporations. So if you have a Krispie Kreme, Starbucks, Caribou Coffee, or a Ben and Jerry's where you live/vote go get your freebie. Don't forget to wear your sticker!

not to surprized by this...... Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test ... Non-conformist, Visionary, and Independent10 Abstract, -10 Islamic, -14 Ukiyo-e, 7 Cubist, -5 Impressionist and -20 Renaissance!
Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of what may appear to others as visual realities. Western had been underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture. People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform. |

Your result for The Supervillain Archetype Test ... The ProfessionalCool, Levelheaded, Lethal
The Professional is the most dangerous of all villains. You do what you do better than anyone, because, as a Professional, you have standards. The Professional is like the Crook in that they both desire The greatest weakness of a Professional is risk. A Professional is business-like, but can't resist a challenge. They often use the word "worthy opponent". People like that are easily baited. And if a Professional is eventually cornered (not easy to do), they might lose it. Your result for How good of a Calvinball player are you? ... Your grade= A- Amazing Calvinball skills, but you lack knowledge of the game26% Game_Knowledge and 96% Game_Skill!
Amazing. You are part of the 6.1% of the population that landed in this category.* Despite not knowing very much about the game and its history, you did amazing well when it came to playing Calvinball strategically. This suggests that you probably have a natural talent in Calvinball. You have learned that the trick to doing well in Calvinball is not brute strength, but quick wit. With your natural ability you could go far. Still, in order to be an expert, you must learn the lack of rules to the game. That will be the competitive edge you need to take on the greatest. You are definitely already talented enough to beat Calvin, but I still give the edge to the quick-witted tiger in that match-up. |

This was my very first WW. The first SCA camping event for the boys ( 10 and 4). We left for Boscobel at 6:30 am. Made a stop in Kellogg MN to fill up with gas. I knew Wisconsin would be more $$/gallon and put enough in to make it home again after the trip down. Along the way, I remembered I had to make a quick shopping trip to buy a few forgotten items. Once the van hit Winona, we cruised over to Walmart. Picked up the necessities, and didn't stop again until Soldiers Grove. There was a nice little gas station there. Had a liquor store attached to it. We stopped because this was the only piddle break I need to take with the kids. I was impressed, and they were relieved to be able to get out the van to stretch again. The van: The old thing is a wonderful vehicle, and has been very good to me. However when I am taking the boys along with, the van is packed so tightly that the boys can't move, and I can't see out my back window. Good thing my Dad taught me how to drive, back up, etc using only my mirrors. Dad is a truck driver, and felt it necessary to teach his children that skill. I chose not to use the luggage rack ontop of the van, for fear it would caught down gas milage to much.... We arrived onsite approx 10:30am. Anplica was up at troll when we invaded. She invited my motley crew to join her campsite. I was thinking, she may not be so grateful that she did that by weekend's end.... :) and she let me know where the other part of our Silfren-Mere camp was. My oldest stated he wanted to camp with Anplica, and I decided to check it out. When I saw that her site was directly across fromt he playground, that sealed the deal. We were camping there. It worked out very well. Nearby were some kids that my oldest played with, and he was with his new found friends ( namely Galen) the event. My youngest hung with me, or played at the park. Both boys came home tired and dirty. Positive signs that they had a good time. Ethan, my oldest and Gareth a younger boy that we were camping with, entered the sandcastle competition. The boys created a castle under siege. They used some little plastic knights ( think those little green Gi Joe's) to embellish the castle. The black knights were Northshield, and the grey were Middle Kingdom. When judging time came round, there was some stiff compititon. But, Ethan and Gareth won. Ethan was so pleased. After that , we made our way over to archery. Ethan missed the children's shoot, while building, and judging to occur. But he participated in the Open Shoot. Ethan has not picked up a bow in a year's time, (The first time he did so, was at a YMCA camp week he went to last year). Ethan was able to get a three point shot. I was a very proud Momma.... There were adults shooting as well. So, the fact that Ethan made it to the hay bales, and was able to get a good shot in, impressed me. My youngest, Ike, had his WW made, when he met his first band of pirates. Ever since I joined the SCA in January, Ike has wanted to become a pirate. At WW, we were walking back from the Main Pavilion, and near the list field a band of pirates came walking by. Ike, grabbed hold of my dress and very excited said "Pirates Mommy! Pirates!" I stopped the Lord's and Ladies, and told them of Ike's excitement. They answered with a hearty ARG! which scared him a bit, but he was ready to follow them where ever they would lead him, and join the crew. I didn't get to any of the classes, which would have been difficult with Ike in tow. We strolled down Merchants row, and I wished I had a bundle on $$ to blow. I did get a tasty treat from Manthra's (sp?) Ike and I went up to the dance, around 8 pm, and only stayed for a little while. For the most part I watched the boys play, and hung out at the camp site. Which was enjoyable for me as well. Ike and I did take part in the children's activites. We took a dip in the pool on Friday. Very cool and refreshing. The tent held in the wind on Friday night. We did get some water leakage, but not puddles. which was a good thing. I was able to use my tripod grill for the first time. I loved it! Once I got it together. With help from Little John. The version I have is called Instant Tripod, from Menards. Instant my fanny! Maybe if you have three people. ( forgive me for my rant, but I want to forewarn those who are thinking of a tripod grill.) The three legs on my version of the tripod, come in six pieces. Two metal pieces form one leg. The problem with my version is that they do not stay together very well. Once you get one leg in, and go to the next to set up, move, put into place around the fire pit, another leg will come apart, and you are going round and round with this dance for a longer time than an instant. There are other types out there, that have legs that are connected, and you don't have to worry about falling pieces..... I think Shopko has one. Go with that version. Mine, once set up, it is a gem. I plan to get some metal zip ties, to fasten my legs together, that way I won't have this problem in the future. Saturday was a beautiful day, and much cooler than Friday. Sunday we were packed up and on the road by 11:15 am. On our trip home I wanted to stop at a drive in restaurant. I thought I had seen an A&W version, somewhere along the way. I kept looking, thinking this would be a nice experience for the kids. By La Crosse hunger had taken over, and I gave up looking for the A&W. I pulled into the drive through at Wendy's. The kids and I fed, we continued on our way. A few blocks later, there was the drive through Wendy's. I told the kids, next time we are headed that way, we will stop. We arrived home tired, and in need of a shower by 1:30pm. Total dive time 2 1/2 hrs. Not bad. I love the WW site, and I hope we can keep it! |

You put a lot of work into playing the game and making sure its fun for others too. For a lot of folks an event wouldn't be the same without you. You probably have a tendancy to over do it sometimes. Your result for Which of Bert's Obsessions Are You? ... You are the LETTER W!Y wouldn't U B?
You are popular enough to have a cultish fan-club following. You used to sometimes be a vowel, but, since then, Y has taken over the exclusivity of that designation. Like the way that Pluto used to be a really small planet. You begin words like a kind of trumpet mute, a kind of cannonball, and a kind of salad that is also a hotel chain and a muppet. No, Hilton is not a salad. Zing! Where was I? Oh yeah. Strangely, you look like a combination of the twins who live next door. You begin every word. Think about it. You are an indispensible one of twenty-six, and the world wouldn't be the same without you. |

I started out on Friday afternoon, and arrived on site about 2:30 pm. I asked Brenda where I should set up my mundane tent. She pointed me in the right direction and I drove over to inspect the site choices I had. I picked out this lovely little spot with plenty of shade and close to the potty. Great location for those who may have to make a trip in the middle of the night. My mundane can be set up by myself, but it goes faster, if I have another person helping me out. After staking the tent down, and putting the poles together, I walked over to troll. Ivar was sitting there chit chatting with Brenna. I crooked my little finger, and asked for some assistance. Being a kind gentleman, he helped me put up the poles. Five minutes is all it took to have the tent up. I unloaded my van, and was in garb in about a half hour. I was the first on site to be dressed and ready to play. I walked down to the period encampment, which looked awesome! And spent the rest of my evening down there. Saturday I did a shift at troll, and met some very nice people. Saturday night, I witnessed my first "Spear the Beer" game, had a glass of Gorilla milk ( which was the equivalent of 16 0z) and kept my eye on some of my friends that had dipped a little to much into the gorilla milk.... I witnessed a jewish wedding ceremony between Domonio, and Froberry..... (giggle) and ate my fill at the feast. Coffin chicken, (moist, yummy, and period) several other veggie dishes, and delectable deserts. I made a strawberry rhubarb crisp that got eaten up. I didn't even have left overs. yeah! I had great company at the feast. Belle, Ingrim, and Jacob. Later on we had a going away party under the pavilion for Ivar and Lilliana. Bardic circle was under the pavilion as well, since it was raining. I joined in on the songs I knew. Ingus does such a wonderful job in belting out the tunes. Sunday, I was woken to a drip drip on my forehead... More reason as to why I really need to look into finding a used pavilion for next year's camping season...... The mundane had all the rain it could handle, and was starting to come inside. I knew things would just get worse, so I got myself out of bed at 6:30 am to hurry and pack things. By 7:30 I had the van packed, with the exception of the tent. I knew the plan was to start tear down around noon. It was my hope that I could have my tent dry out a little by that time, before I had to take it down. I was met with some success. But right now, the tent is on the lawn drying out, and I have to waterproof things again. Camp was cleaned up around 3:00 pm. I had a great time. Survived the rain, and I am looking forward to WW. |

I would have pictures, however my digital camera came to an early demise, when it leaped off the table and came in contact with the cement floor. This happened at Ages of War. I am very disappointed, since I will not be able to replace my camera until later on this month. ( Read more... ) |

Greetings to all whom read this blog. I have just arrived home from a fun filled, action packed weekend in Austin MN. The shire of Silfren-Mere and Hearld's Hill just held thier annual Ages of War event. I had a great time. I traveled to Austin on Friday afternoon. I arrived on site, about 5:30 pm. Owen, helped me set up my tent, and I was unpacked and ready to play by 6:30 pm. Things were quiet Friday night. Saturday morning, I woke up, and was ready to help Aletheia out with children's activites by 9 am. At first we only had two children come in, but around 10:30 we had a good size group. There was a scavenger hunt, where the children had to find certain people. ( ie the King and Queen) etc.... The kids enjoyed that. Then our next activity were making shields. Once the children had their shields colored and decorated just the way they wanted, we hung them up in the feast hall, for decoration. After feast, the kids were able to take their shields home. In the afternoon, we played a life size goose game. The children really had fun with that. The games wraped up for the evening around 5 pm. Court was held around 6 pm. It was a great court for Silfren Mere. Lyluf recieved his Griffon's Sword. Owen, Little John, and Lilliana recieved their AOA's. and Zofia recieved a Balefire. We were going to play torch light tag at dusk but the weather was threatening, and many people were making the choice to go home. The weather threatned, but it was not as bad as some other places in the Kingdom were hit. The rain was refreshing, and it was sporatic. Bardic circle was in full swing when Aletheia and I came down to camp for the evening. Ingus delighted us with songs. We had the Calontier royalty join our emcampment, and join in with the singing. I enjoyed that tremedously. One of the songs that Ingus sang was an OLD one. One that was written by LADY Aramanthra ( she is a Viscountess now). Another favorite of mine was a battle marching song. When the chorus came round, I joined in. I could not help myself. Saturday night, Lyluf and our little encampment made a decsion to pack up in the morning ( Sunday) and head home. The storms were suppose to pick up, and most of us did not want to see our mundanes or pavillions ripped to shreds. Sunday morning, as I woke up and got ready for the day, I started to tear down my tent. Just as I placed the last cooler inside the van, packed and ready to go home, Lyluf made the announcement that we were going to stay. The storms had been downgraded. I teased him, and said " You could not have made that announcment ten minutes sooner?" As I dreaded the thought of unpacking the tent, and pulling things out... Masatsugu offered to share space in his pavillion, which I happily accepted. I unpacked just the essientials, ( camp stove, coolers, etc...) for the day. Then parked the van near by, and went over to help Aletheia with the kids activites. Goose was in full swing by the time I got there. I was late, but Aletheia understood why. ( I still feel bad, although. Next time, I will just wait to tear down my little campsite, and be on time to where I am voulenterring help) I recieved my first token this weekend. One in which, I have currently made into a necklace. It has two pretty beads. One that is diamond shaped, and another that is leaf shaped. I am very honored to wear it. This weekend, also made me yern to have a more preiod encampment, then my old mundane tent, and camp gear. On the wish list is a pavillion. After doing some research, I have found that the round pavillion is period for me. I even found a painting of a round, from Ireland in the 16th century. If I remember correctly this painting was from my year as well. ( 1525). Before I found this painting, I was looking at round pavillions. Acording to Panther, one person can set it up. I like this feature. Even though, I know there are pleanty of chilverous gentleman and ladies out there, that will help, I like the idea of being able to set it up myself if need be. When I found the painting, it sealed the deal so to speak. I know that when the time comes, and I am able to afford a pavillion, I want to do it right. And that will come with a price. The only exception would be, if I found an incerdible deal on one, that I could not pass up. Also on the wish list, are some of Karl's chairs. They are comfortable, and beautiful. I also spied a beatuiful simple table. The only embleishment, was along the cross bar piece underneath the table, was a celtic knot design burned into the wood work. The final item on the wish list is a camp kitchen. Right now, I am using the ground to run my little coleman camp stove. ( we only had two picnic tables for our encampment ) I also have a tripod grill, that I want to try out. I plan to take both the coleman stove, and tripod grill to Castle Fever, in two weeks. I am sure, as I go to more events, there will be other little tricks, and more to add to the wish list. For right now, I just plan to get some more summer garb sewn up, and enjoy camping season..... My other goal is to get my first aid/cpr certification that way I can start on my way to be a chiurgeon. I beleive I have figured out a device formyself. I have to run the idea by the hearld, to see if what I have in mind will pass. What I am thinking is: Red and white stripes on the top and bottom of the shield. In the middle a bunch of berries on a vine. You may ask why? A couple of reasons: 1. My full name is Guinevere de Barry ( I know it sounds French) There was a de Barry family living in Wales, that are decendants of Odo de Barry. The family moved to Ireland, when there were granted land there(1125). My persona is Welsh, but lives in Ireland. 2. The actual Barry family shield is red and white srtipes. No heraldic symbols from what I have seen in research so far. 3. The berry design I have in mind, is simple. Simple is good. I am not ready for anything complicated. Plus it can be decoumented. Yeah!
I really had a lot of fun this weekend. I ran a shift at Troll, helped out Aletheia with children's activites, and had a great first camping event.
I am looking forward to Castle Fever. Then dub dub is the next event I plan to attend. at WW, my kids will be in tow. I hope we can find some shade to put our mundane tent in. This way the boys can have some shade to shelter in.
Side note here reguarding my persona: Guinevere was married, and living in Wales until the death of her husband. Then she move to Ireland to be with family.
